Friday Check-In

If it’s ok to do so, take a moment for yourself. If you have more than a moment, take that (I took exactly 7 minutes this morning). Just sit.

It’s seasonably cold here in Brooklyn and I woke to a city blanketed (and actively being blanketed) by snow. I love how the snow makes the early morning so much more quiet, literally absorbing sound.

First week of the new year. I was going to say something about how arbitrary this demarcation between years is. It doesn’t really matter for a lot of us. This is just the week when it was like “oh yeah, this shit again” after taking some time that wasn’t “time off,” but just time doing other (sometimes stressful) things.

So how is your shit?

I don’t make resolutions for the new year, but I am clarifying my efforts for myself, acknowledging my habits:

Meditate.

Accept what’s outside my control.

Put one foot in front of the other.

Practice compassion to myself and others.

No hope, no fear.

I love you.
